Join us to explore the book, Rethinking Disability and Mathematics, by Rachel Lambert. Let’s make the math classroom a place where students with disabilities and neurodiversity uncover their strengths and find meaningful and joyful learning in math.

This 'Day 1' workshop is designed for teachers who have NOT read the book and want to learn more about Rachel Lambert’s research. Discussions will be based around the need for shifting our misconceptions around math, disability, and instructional practice, as well as how to implement using Universal Design for Learning for Math (UDL Math) to support all students.

OBJECTIVES

• Explore key ideas and research from the book Rethinking Disability and Mathematics, by Rachel Lambert to learn how to ensure that all students, regardless of ability, have the opportunity to engage with math in meaningful ways.
• Be introduced to Universal Design for Learning for Math (UDL Math), a framework that empowers disabled and neurodiverse students by providing multiple pathways to mathematical understanding.
