Community of Practice Virtual Meetings

These sessions unite special education teachers from various districts who teach students with the most significant cognitive disabilities. In this collaborative environment, educators will share their strategies, challenges, and successes related to curriculum design, instructional delivery, and assessment practices that respect both rigor and the unique needs of individual learners.

Participants will:

• Engage in discussion about effective methods for aligning instruction with alternate standards while ensuring access to grade-level content.
• Discover practical tools and resources that promote meaningful academic and functional outcomes for students.
• Reflect on student progress monitoring and how data can guide both IEP development and daily instruction.
• Establish professional connections and build a network of colleagues facing similar instructional challenges.

The meeting will be highly interactive, providing opportunities for guided discussions, sharing classroom experiences, and identifying common needs for future learning. The aim is to cultivate a professional community that encourages continuous improvement and innovative practices, ensuring all students have access to high-quality, standards-aligned learning opportunities.
