The Novice Coaches Academy is for 1st- and 2nd-year Literacy and Instructional Coaches who are new to coaching. We will explore topics to help you smoothly transition with clarity and confidence into your new role. Coaches will explore the essential mindset, tools and strategies that make the transition into coaching more successful. Novice coaches will receive personalized support through virtual 1-on-1 mentoring sessions, where you can ask questions, problem-solve, and get tailored support for your unique coaching context. You will build a strong professional network with other new coaches in the whole-group learning sessions through shared learning and collaboration.

OBJECTIVES

• Create clarity and focus around launching the school year (30-, 60-, 90-day plans)
• Build your personal coaching philosophy
• Get initial grounding around working with adult learners
• Explore coaching strategies including questioning and feedback
• Learn to build momentum and collaborative partnerships in your building 
• Build your toolkit of coaching strategies and data collection in order to maximize your coaching
• Participate in personalized 1-on-1 mentoring sessions

• Dates: September 29 and November 3, 2026; January 11 and March 1, 2027
  • Plus, four, one-hour virtual mentoring sessions per participant (dates TBD)
• Times: 8:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
• Location: CESA 6, Oshkosh
• Cost: $2,525 per participant

Please note if an alternative payment is needed, a purchase order must be received before your registration can be confirmed. All registrations must be finalized before the event date.

Alternative payment methods may be approved under the following circumstances:

• Registration fees exceed $1,000
• A specific funding source is being used (e.g., Title funds)
• Your school district requires use of an internal payment process
