Are your math scores not where you want them to be? As a principal, you are expected to lead in all academic areas, but as you have likely experienced, leading in mathematics is hard! Teachers discuss subitizing, math practice standards, NCTM resources, vertical-surface problem-solving, four different ways to multiply, and you might feel like you can’t fully engage because of a lack of background knowledge and understanding of the latest in teaching mathematics. Well, here is your chance to get up to speed!

The CESA 6 Math Leadership Project offers a dynamic virtual professional development series for school principals and teachers, focusing on cutting-edge strategies, research, and initiatives in K-12 Mathematics, fostering collaborative understanding, growth, and non-intimidating problem-solving experiences.

OBJECTIVES

• Keep Your Math Leadership Sharp!
  • Stay engaged with math all month long through weekly independent activities designed to deepen your understanding and leadership.
  • Spark Meaningful Math Conversations – Dive into thought-provoking ideas from Catalyzing Change and engage in a reflective discussion with a math teacher.
  • Experience Learning Firsthand – Spend a class period in the highest grade level at your school (non-evaluative) and reflect on the student experience with guided questions.
  • Teach a Mini-Lesson – Lead a small group activity on subitizing with 2nd and 5th graders to strengthen number sense.

DETAILS

• Dates: October 6; November 3; December 8; January 5; February 2; March 2; April 6; and, May 4, 2027
• Time: 1:00 - 3:00 PM
• Virtual: A link will be emailed to you one day before session #1 (the same link will be used for every session)
• Cost: $720 per team (1 administrator + 1 teacher)

CESA 6 accepts credit card payments for all event registrations. If you are unable to complete your registration using a credit card, please contact events@cesa6.org for assistance with alternative arrangements.

Please note if an alternative payment is needed, a purchase order must be received before your registration can be confirmed. All registrations must be finalized before the event date.

Alternative payment methods may be approved under the following circumstances:

• Registration fees exceed $1,000
• A specific funding source is being used (e.g., Title funds)
• Your school district requires use of an internal payment process
